Before digital product design, where was I?
My path into UI/UX design started a bit differently than most. It began with tactile materials, understanding manufacturing techniques and human ergonomics in physical 3D space. But to really understand where I’m going, it helps to start at the very beginning.
My passion for design was sparked in high school by two incredibly influential teachers, both belonging to the world of art and design. My fascination with the discipline truly took off the day I heard the quote, “Design is art with purpose.” For me, it was decided.
I went on to study Industrial Design at CPUT, completing a four-year Honours Degree. After graduating, I jumped straight into the industry, spending the next eight years honing my craft and expanding my skill set as I went along. Those years taught me how to embed design thinking into complex projects while balancing client expectations, tight timelines, and real-world budgets. Across every field I touched, from medical devices to furniture and point-of-sale displays, the common thread was always solving complex problems effectively.
Why the pivot to digital?
At its core, I wanted to bring the focus back to where it belongs: the user.
Within traditional industrial design, fast-paced projects can sometimes force a shift toward rapid execution at the expense of deep user research.

My desire to empower how people interact with products, whether physically or digitally, really solidified during my final-year thesis in industrial design. After earning a distinction for that proposal, I realised how much I thrive on engaging directly with users, gathering qualitative and quantitative data, and synthesising those insights into meaningful product solutions.
To bridge that gap and formalise my digital skillset, I recently completed a postgraduate diploma in UI/UX Design through Vega in Cape Town, earning three distinctions along the way.
As I step into this next chapter, I’m excited to collaborate with a dedicated team of creatives, building intuitive digital solutions that genuinely improve people's day-to-day lives.
